We want every adult who cares for young people to have room to do this work, and we recognize that access to spaces for learning, reflection, and rest has never been equal.
Fully Funded ($0): Slots held in recognition of those affected by the histories of land dispossession and the unequal access to time, resources, and outdoor space that shape who gets to gather, learn, and heal. If this describes you, we welcome you here at no cost, or at whatever you’re able to give.
BNC/CWYC Participant ($180): For families, youth, and community members already part of Brave Nature Collaborative or Citywide Youth Coalition programs.
Community ($230): Our standard rate, for individuals joining at full cost.
Non-profit ($300): For participants whose organization is supporting their learning, so they can bring this practice back to the young people they serve.
Corporate ($510): For participants sponsored by a business or larger institution. This rate helps hold space for others in the circle, including those joining fully funded.
- Description
The Unlearning Circle is a six-month cohort for parents, caregivers, educators, and allied adults who want to share power with the young people in their lives. Co-hosted by Citywide Youth Coalition and Brave Nature Collaborative, we gather once a month to look honestly at what we were taught about children, and to practice something different.
Many of us grew up with adultism: the belief that adults are more capable, credible, and entitled to power than children. It shows up in small, everyday moments, often in the very habits we inherited from the adults who raised us. In the circle, we learn to notice those patterns with care instead of shame, and to try new ways of listening, deciding, and being together.
Each gathering opens and closes in circle, with time for story, reflection, and practice in between. The questions and experiences participants bring help shape where we go next. Along the way, we make room to hear directly from children and youth about the kind of world they want to inherit and grow.
Rooted in our connection to the land, the circle is a brave space for adults to un/learn together, and to carry what we discover back to the children and young people we love and serve.
